Role Summary
The embedded software engineer will work on all aspects of embedded software development for our radar products. At the core of our radar is an application running on embedded Linux that responds to commands, controls physical hardware, configures FPGA IP cores, and packetizes data. You will be part of a small embedded team responsible for embedded software and FPGA IP core implementation, testing, and production firmware releases.
Your expertise in the state of the art will help inform the direction of our future development and ultimately products.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test new embedded software features that run on the Xilinx Zynq device within our radar.
- Implement bare-metal embedded software running on microcontroller platforms such as STM32 and MicroBlaze.
- Plan and participate in the bringup of new hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with engineers responsible for electronics, FPGA implementation, and testing to plan work and implement new functionality.
- Participate in code reviews and task planning exercises.
- Take ownership of the build and release infrastructure for our embedded platforms.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of industry experience developing C based applications on embedded Linux.
- 2+ years of industry experience with programming in C and C++ for microcontrollers.
- Experience with build tools such as Make and CMake.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using languages such as Bash or Python.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of radar systems and the analysis of radar data
- Experience with FPGA design
- Experience with HDLs, preferably VHDL
- Experience with unit testing of embedded software and functional testing of embedded devices
- Radio frequency (RF) hardware experience, including ADCs, DACs, and PLLs
- Experience with security for embedded devices
- Knowledge of embedded Linux build systems such as Buildroot and Yocto
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
Remuneration:
Salary dependent on experience. Package includes share options and benefits.
Position Time Type
This is a full-time position. Working mode will be hybrid, with at least 3 days in person at our Burnaby lab.
