Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Radar Systems Engineer to join our innovative engineering team based on Burnaby, BC. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced radar systems for applications including UAS detection and tracking, autonomous sensor decision-making, radar electronic warfare, and sensing for autonomous vehicles. This position requires deep technical expertise in radar theory, signal processing, hardware, and software integration to ensure the successful delivery of high-performance radar solutions. You’ll engage directly with our customers to understand and address their most critical challenges, and you will collaborate closely with our hardware and software engineering teams to design, implement, and validate state-of-the-art system capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and apply cutting-edge signal processing and machine learning techniques to solve complex radar and RF sensing and counter-sensing challenges (e.g., detection, tracking, clutter cancellation, interferometry).
- Conduct system-level modeling and simulation to predict and optimize radar performance in various operational environments.
- Oversee the integration and testing of radar systems components, both in laboratory and field settings, to ensure compliance with performance specifications and fidelity of models.
- Perform detailed data analysis of test results, troubleshoot system issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and performance reports.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in radar technology, techniques, and industry standards while engaging directly with customers to understand their unique requirements and shaping our solutions to meet their objectives.
- Drive business development initiatives and support proposal writing efforts, playing a key role in shaping the future direction of our projects and organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- This position requires the ability to obtain a Canadian security clearance.
- Master’s (research-based) or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience on EW or Radar programs, including the development of sensor system modes and advanced signal- and data-processing algorithms, from mathematical/analytical derivation through testing and verification of system performance.
- 2+ years experience in two or more of the following areas:
- RF/radar signal processing, mathematical optimization, waveform design, electronic warfare, adaptive signal processing, AI/ML algorithm development, sensor performance modeling & simulation, systems engineering, test engineering, target tracking and recognition.
- Proficiency in in one or more scientific or mathematical programming languages, such as MATLAB, Python, and C/C++.
- Broad knowledge of other engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, to ensure seamless system integration.
- Ability to deliver concise and informative technical briefs to technical and non-technical audiences including subcontractors, senior executives, and customers.
- Experienced researcher and team member who is excited to work with mission partners to leverage cutting-edge technology and research for immediate impact.
- Strong mathematical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills.
Remuneration
Salary dependent on experience. aiRadar considers various factors when determining total compensation, including job-specific specialized knowledge, skills, and proficiency.
Position Time Type
This is a full-time position. Working mode will be hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in person at our Burnaby lab.
