Software Engineering Co-op Position

Role Summary

The software engineering co-op will work on the user facing software which controls our radar sensors and processes the data in real-time. You will be a part of the host software team responsible for all non-embedded software/firmware.

The particular project for this co-op position is developing a radar demonstration platform for autonomous vehicles. The core of the project will require generating a video stream of the radar data on an Nvidia Jetson and streaming it back to an operator console over an RF link. You will be engaged in the full software development cycle including concept and prototyping through to production releases.

This opportunity starts in May 2026 and is open for a 4-month or 8-month full-time term.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test new cross-platform software features that run on both Windows PCs and Nvidia Jetson boards.
  • Design, implement, and test features for applications that support the control and visualization of our radar products and associated data.
  • Collaborate with engineers responsible for electronics, FPGA implementation, and testing to plan work and implement new functionality.
  • Participate in code reviews and task planning exercises.
  • Work with engineering team and designers to understand customer needs and deliver customized firmware features and application solutions tailored to their requirements.  

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience reviewing code, debugging issues, and implementing new features.
  • Experience with programming in C/C++.
  • Experience with developing applications using TCP/UDP communications.
  • Scripting and automation skills using languages such as Bash or Python.
  • Managing tasks independently using tools like Jira and documenting technical processes.

 

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with developing software in Cuda for Nvidia GPUs.
  • Experience with the Qt framework.
  • Previous development experience with signal processing algorithms.
  • Knowledge of radar systems and the analysis of radar data.
  • UX/UI design experience.

 

Remuneration

Salary will be $25/hour.

Position Time Type

This is co-op position, available as a 4-month or 8-month term. Work will be 5-days per work in office at our Burnaby lab.

This position requires the applicant to be legally eligible to work in Canada and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. You may also be required to pass a security check.
